Recipe Wednesday

Thinking about this evenings recipe I wanted to go somewhere different. I thought it would be fun to go back to part of my heritage and share with you one of my favorite dishes.  The sauce comes from this cook book you see here and it a very simple white sauce to make.  Don't worry if your not comfortable making the sauce, jar Alfredo sauce will do fine too. I first grilled up some chicken and seasoned it with garlic, parsley, basil and oregano and then more garlic. I don't think you can ever have to much garlic. With that being said, I put my pot of water on to boil and once it starts to boil I add salt to the water. This the only time that you will be able to add the flavor to the pasta. You can use and type of pasta you like this evening I chose linguine. I drained the pasta well and then added my chicken and white sauce mixed together and toped with Parmesan cheese. You can add any vegetable to this dish broccoli, peas or asparagus any one of these choices will add to t
The Quilting Circle by Amy Lillard is a collection of 3 Novellas that will make you cry tears of laughter and sadness. Come with me, as we head back to Wells Landing, a place I have missed and a place you will be sure to love. In  More Than A Friendship, ClaraRose is set to marry Thomas and can't believe how fast time has gone. Her best friend Obie, just weeks before the wedding,  tells her she shouldn’t be marrying Thomas. He won't give her a real reason as to why?  ClaraRose is confused and is not sure why her best friend  is just now brining this up. She assumes Obie, is just nervous that once she’s married, it will change their friendship. Are these concerns just nerves, or could they stop ClaraRose from plans and dreams to marry?  The second story,  More Than A Promise ,  introduces us to Mariana, whose husband has passed away, and leaves her wondering how’ll she move on and find a way to support herself. She doesn’t have long to dwell on this, as she soon learn

Recipe Wednesday

I am always looking for that easy one dish meal to feed my family with the hopes I will have left overs, either for lunch for my son or a night when I want to  make it simple. Some nights I even do a clean up from what has been left over. I sometimes have those who won't eat leftovers, so I make them something simple like a grilled ham and cheese sandwich. This is my go to dinner when I haven't planned ahead. With that being said, I have been thinking what should I make this week to share with each of you. I pulled out several different cookbooks and decided to go back to Wanda's cook book. I found, what I thought would be a simple easy dish to make. I am not sure about you but, I love the one dish dinners its simple and always a easy clean up! While I was preparing our dinner I realized the recipe didn't give how much chicken, so  I used about 2 breast diced up in small bites. I also used mixed vegetables of peas, carrots green beans instead of just peas. I say u

Thinking of Spring

I know many of us have been in bitter cold temps and snowed in, hoping for warmer days. Here is a few ways that helps me through these cold days of winter. But before I let you know what I do, I wanted to share with you something I heard the Amish say. What better way to be or get closer to God, then to be working with the soil. I believe this to be true. With that being said here are my ways that helps get through winter. I start thinking of my graden and what I will plant. I make a list of what seeds I want and place my order. This will be the first year I order seeds. I start to think of the design of my garden, like where I'm going to plant certain vegetables and what type of flowers I will place in my garden.  You ask, what do I do with my fresh vegetables? Aside from canning and freezing them, I love cooking with my fresh vegetables they can make any meal taste so much better. Here is a recipe you and your family can enjoy. It comes from Wanda Brunstetter Amish Friends Ha
