Buried Secerts

EXCERPT

"How does it feel to hold your first grand baby, Reuben,?' Mammi asked. Dat's face screwed up in anguish. "Oh, Gott forgive me, " he cried. "Someone please take the boppli."

"Buried Secrets" is the second book in the series "Sisters and Friends" by Rachel Good.  In this book we get to me a lovely young girl, Emma Esh, whose has lost the past year or so of her life due an accident resulting is a lapse in memory.  Emma finds herself living with her sister and brother-in-law who are expecting their first set of twins. Lydia, being the big sister, was way over protected and did everything she could to keep a secret about Emma's life before the accident, knowing, she would not be able to handle it. Like all secrets, they can never truly stay hidden. Emma can't believe what she's learned of her past when her family finally comes to visit, and the truth is revealed.

MY THOUGHTS

I throughly enjoyed this book. Once I started reading, it was impossible to put down. With each turn of the page, I was in suspense, and like Emma, I was trying to figure out what this secret was.  I had no idea where Good was taking me, but when the truth was finally revealed, it left me in complete shock.  I asked myself, how can keeping such a secret, even if we think it's the best thing to do, be good for anyone? As parents, we do what we think is best for a children no matter the age. We pray that God will give us peace over the decisions, especially, if we are unsure of the choices we make. This story was was a true delight to read, and recommend it to anyone looking for some suspense.

I was given a copy through NetGalley in return for my review for which I have given.

Response: From the time I began reading I started writing short stories and poems. I had an imagination as a child. When I was in second grade I wrote a poem about a moth. QUESTION 2: From all of the different genres that you could have chosen, how did you decide upon Amish life as your primary focus? Response: I chose the Amish life to write about because through my husband, who has a Mennonite background, I met and became friends with many Amish people, whom we have come to know and love. Something Old by Diane Christner   Something Old , the first book in a series of Plain City Bridesmaid, takes place in Plain City , Ohio , where young Katy Yoder is living her life as a Conservative Mennonite. Nursing a heart broken by her love Jake Byler when he left the faith, Katy moves on and recovers in a life of peace and simplicity. That is, until her world becomes turbulent when Jake returns seeking redemption from the church and forgiveness from her heart.   Confused, angry, and torn, Katy faces a difficult test of faith as she seeks the strength of God to forgive a man who hurt her so deeply. Her journey is one that is painfully familiar, the struggle to forgive those who have wounded us. It is in these times that we are vulnerable to temptation, to weakness of spirit, and indulgence in anger. Katy's story is one of courage that shows us how faith can show us the way, even when  we wonder if God is listening. A wonderful story of heartbreak and triumph with
